A second round of auditions for an original play that tells the true stories of local veterans will be held Sept. 1.
“Welcome Home,” produced by The Brookfield Institute’s Care for the Troops program, will be performed Veterans Day weekend. There are parts for three males, ages 24-60, and one female, age 30-40, said director Regina Diemand. Auditions will be held Saturday, Sept. 1, from noon to 6 p.m., at Workshop 13, 13 Church St., Ware.
The play tells the story of four people brought together after the death of a common friend. Around the campfire, the four begin to share stories and find common history in their military service. They tell their stories, share love, hardships and trauma — and find comfort in each other’s empathy.
The play by Sam Farnsworth is based on a story by JS, Hobbs and is directed by Diemand, a performer and experienced producer. Performances of “Welcome Home” are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 11, 2:30 p.m., at Workshop 13.
